Summary from Goodreads:

Annabeth is terrified. Just when she’s about to be reunited with Percy—after six months of being apart, thanks to Hera—it looks like Camp Jupiter is preparing for war. As Annabeth and her friends Jason, Piper, and Leo fly in on the Argo II, she can’t blame the Roman demigods for thinking the ship is a Greek weapon. With its steaming bronze dragon masthead, Leo’s fantastical creation doesn’t appear friendly. Annabeth hopes that the sight of their praetor Jason on deck will reassure the Romans that the visitors from Camp Half-Blood are coming in peace. And that’s only one of her worries. In her pocket Annabeth carries a gift from her mother that came with an unnerving demand: Follow the Mark of Athena. Avenge me. Annabeth already feels weighed down by the prophecy that will send seven demigods on a quest to find—and close— the Doors of Death. What more does Athena want from her?

Annabeth’s biggest fear, though, is that Percy might have changed. What if he’s now attached to Roman ways? Does he still need his old friends? As the daughter of the goddess of war and wisdom, Annabeth knows she was born to be a leader, but never again does she want to be without Seaweed Brain by her side.

Narrated by four different demigods, The Mark of Athena is an unforgettable journey across land and sea to Rome, where important discoveries, surprising sacrifices, and unspeakable horrors await. Climb aboard the Argo II, if you dare. . . .”

MY THOUGHTS.

WOW! A huge applause for Rick Riordan for another great book and a job well done! And another book from him that will definitely fall in my favorites shelf which is kind of too predictable because ALL of his books are indeed in my favorites shelf. I love love love this book! Full of awesomeness!! Action-packed adventure and one hell of a ride!

I was too excited with this book that I actually bought it on it’s first day of release last Tuesday, October 2. I love the amazing cover and the smell of the book while I’m flipping the pages. LOL! The characters are on full blast, all seven of them, Percy, Annabeth, Jason, Piper, Frank, Hazel and Leo. (I will not go through much of the details because I might spoil some.) They are all funny, I remember laughing so hard I felt like I’m going crazy because I’m all alone in my room reading. LOL! My most favorite character here is Leo, I think he’s so amazing here and he really played a huge part in the quest next to Annabeth. (Team Leo for the win!) I like his story with Hazel and it really surprised me, and I find it too “cute” to handle. LOL! I guess I now know why he’s the seventh wheel, but I’ll keep it to myself for the mean time. As for Annabeth, I expected that there will be a lot from her based on the cover and the title. But I didn’t know it was that big! Gee, I will not say anything, go figure it out! 😉

Anyway, I’m happy that there are a lot of exciting events with the series, so many surprises in every chapter, and also so many things to look forward to. I like the fact that Riordan put a little romance in it. I love the three love teams, Percy and Annabeth deserve to be with each other. Jason and Piper are good together (Piper should never doubt Jason’s affection to her, she’s a daughter of Aphrodite, she should be confident with love.) And the extraordinary love triangle – Leo, Frank and Hazel for the win!!!

I LOVE THIS SERIES! CAN’T WAIT FOR THE NEXT, THE HOUSE OF HADES! 😉

  1. Ohhh, my copy just arrived today and your making me incredibly excited to read it. Leo, Hazel & Frank, what?? I didn’t see that coming. But I loved Leo the minute Rick introduced him in the first book, he’s one of my favourites. And speaking of favourites, I love Nico as well and when I heard the next book is titled House of Hades I got so excited, I hope it means we get more Nico 🙂 Great review, you did a great job of hiding spoilers but putting enough for me to want to start it asap, I’m so giddy now 😀
