My Top 5 Favorite Movies this year!

2012 favorite movies

Yes, I do love watching movies!!! I admit I’ve watched less movies this year, but I promise that I’ll be watching the ones I missed, especially Brave, Wrath of the Titans, This Means War, and many more. Today, I’d like to share with all of you my TOP 5 FAVORITE MOVIES the year 2012! So why only 5? Well, this post will be longer if I shared my top 10, right? LOL! Before anything else, I hope you don’t judge me that much on my picks, but I rate the movies by how much I enjoyed it, not by the casting, script, director, actors, or any such movie-related techniques. I love them because I enjoyed watching them, I had a good laugh or if I cried a bunch. Anyway, here they are:

Summary from IMDB:

“Katniss Everdeen voluntarily takes her younger sister’s place in the Hunger Games, a televised fight to the death in which two teenagers from each of the twelve Districts of Panem are chosen at random to compete.”

My thoughts.

Of course, first on the list is my favorite book of all time, The Hunger Games. I love it, and I cried on how much it was beautifully made into movie. For me, it was perfect! Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson have portrayed their roles so well. I can’t wait for Catching Fire and see them all over again! 🙂

Summary from IMDB:

“Peter Parker finds a clue that might help him understand why his parents disappeared when he was young. His path puts him on a collision course with Dr. Curt Connors, his father’s former partner.”

My thoughts.

At first, I was like “A Spiderman movie?!! Again???!!!”. But when I saw that it’s a different version, I got very excited to see it. And it never failed me in any way. I laughed most of the time! And I felt a connection with Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker, I began to like him along the way. Did I tell you that I have this crush on Emma Stone? LOL! She’s so pretty, though I like her much better with red hair. 🙂

Summary from IMDB:

“Dracula, who operates a high-end resort away from the human world, goes into overprotective mode when a boy discovers the resort and falls for the count’s teen-aged daughter.”

My thoughts.

This movie is definitely a huge surprise to me! My boyfriend wanted to watch it even though he’s not a movie addict like me. I had fun watching it, it was so funny, I couldn’t stop myself from laughing so hard! The characters are so cool, especially Dracula, Jonathan and Mavis. But I love every one of them! And the best part for me is the ending where they sang a cute song called “Zing”. If you’ve watched the movie, I’m sure you know the song that I’m talking about. 🙂

Summary from IMDB:

“Sean Anderson partners with his mom’s husband on a mission to find his grandfather, who is thought to be missing on a mythical island.”

My thoughts.

I’ve watched the first movie “Journey to the Center of the Earth” and that’s where I began to love Josh Hutcherson. Well, let’s admit it, he was really cute as a child. LOL! I’ve watched it in 3D and they definitely did a good job. I love the adventure and I enjoyed the journey. 🙂

Summary from IMDB:

“When the evil spirit Pitch launches an assault on Earth, the Immortal Guardians team up to protect the innocence of children all around the world.”

My thoughts.

This movie is still very fresh in my mind because I just watched it last Saturday with one of my close friends. We wanted to see the 3D version, but it wasn’t available. Anyway, the characters are so lovable! Jack Frost is so amazing! And he’s cute too! *giggles*. My favorite is the SandMan, I want to hug him if he’s real! LOL! This movie brought out the child in me, it got me thinking if I believed them when I was a child. I know the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy, and of course Santa, and a little bit about SandMan. Yes, I’m not familiar with Jack Frost, because I’m living in a tropical country and we don’t have snow.  I enjoyed it so much, and I think every kid did too. 🙂

That’s all! Of course, I also do love THE AVENGERS, but it disappointed me in such a way I didn’t expect, or maybe it was over rated. I’m not sure, but I saddened me because they made fun of Loki. I also enjoyed Underworld Awakening, but not much. 😉

How about you, what are the movies you enjoyed this year? 😉

Cindy Ella by Robin Palmer: A Book Review

Title: Cindy Ella

Author: Robin Palmer

Started Date: October 1, 2012

Finished Date: October 1, 2012

Rating: 5/5 stars

Summary from Goodreads:

“Prom fever has infected LA—especially Cindy’s two annoying stepsisters, and her overly Botoxed stepmother. Cindy seems to be the only one immune to it all. But her anti-prom letter in the school newspaper does more to turn Cindy into Queen of the Freaks than close the gap between the popular kids and the rest of the students. Everyone thinks she’s committed social suicide, except for her two best friends, the yoga goddess India and John Hughes worshipping Malcolm, and shockingly, the most popular senior at Castle Heights High and Cindy’s crush, Adam Silver. Suddenly Cindy starts to think that maybe her social life could have a happily ever after. But there’s still the rest of the school to deal with. With a little bit of help from an unexpected source and a fabulous pair of heels, Cindy realizes that she still has a chance at a happily ever after.”

OMG! This is the coolest retelling of the Cinderella fairy tale that I’ve ever read! I am now officially a fan of Robin Palmer, and I’m going to buy and read her other books! Yeah, yeah, I need to calm down! Ok, *deep sigh*, I admit I decided to read this because I was hoping it’ll make me happy after readng a horrible one. And now, I’m happy to say that this book really made my day and has erased all my memories of the horrible book I was talking about earlier. (I’m not going to mention the title of that horrible book because I’m too kind to ruin any reputation, and let’s just code it as the “horrible one”. LOL!)
Anyway, I really fell in love with this book even though I find it so cheesy at first. I had to think like a fifteen year old girl anticipating for prom or rather someone who doesn’t like proms and fairy tales but somehow she acually does. And I like the fact that this book was written and published 5 years ago and some of the character names were from the nineties, even the romantic movies and TV series mentioned. I love Cindy Ella, her wit, guts, intelligence and clumsiness. She’s so funny I laughed in each of her super embarrassing moments! I love her unique and supportive friends, Malcolm and India. I even like her stepmother and step sisters, they are not bad at all. Of course, I love Adam, her prince charming! LOL! He’s sweet and “different”, you’ll know what I mean once you read it. 😉

Yes, you’re right, I’m giving this book 5 stars, because I enjoyed it so much that I finished it in two and a half hours. I’m also putting it in my favorite shelf! I recommend it to everyone who wants to have a good laugh and relieve their past teenage craziness, i mean adventures! LOL!

Waiting on Wednesday #9: Romeo Redeemed

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine. It features each blogger’s most anticipated books.

This week, my pick is Romeo Redeemed by Stacey Jay

“All will be revealed for fans who have breathlessly awaited the sizzling sequel to Juliet Immortal. This time Romeo takes center stage and gets one chance, and one chance only, to redeem himself.

Cursed to live out eternity in his rotted corpse, Romeo, known for his ruthless, cutthroat ways, is given the chance to redeem himself by traveling back in time to save the life of Ariel Dragland. Unbeknownst to her, Ariel is important to both the evil Mercenaries and the love-promoting Ambassadors and holds the fate of the world in her hands. Romeo must win her heart and make her believe in love, turning her away from her darker potential before his work is discovered by the Mercenaries. While his seduction begins as yet another lie, it soon becomes his only truth. Romeo vows to protect Ariel from harm, and do whatever it takes to win her heart and soul. But when Ariel is led to believe his love is a deception, she becomes vulnerable to Mercenary manipulation, and her own inner darkness may ultimately rip them apart.”

 Why I Can’t Wait:

I’ve read Juliet Immortal last Monday and I loved it, you may check my review here. I absolutely like the retelling of Romeo and Juliet. This second book is not about Juliet anymore,  since she already has her own love story in the first book. Now Romeo will redeem himself in this companion novel and I’m so excited about it! I can’t wait for him to fall in love again and be a better person. I hope he will now have his own happy ending and true love.

Waiting on Wednesday #8: Princess of the Silver Woods

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine. It features each blogger’s most anticipated books.

This week, my pick is Princess of the Silver Woods (Princess #3) by Jessica Day George

“When Petunia, the youngest of King Gregor’s twelve dancing daughters, is invited to visit an elderly friend in the neighboring country of Westfalin, she welcomes the change of scenery. But in order to reach Westfalin, Petunia must pass through a forest where strange two-legged wolves are rumored to exist. Wolves intent on redistributing the wealth of the noble citizens who have entered their territory. But the bandit-wolves prove more rakishly handsome than truly dangerous, and it’s not until Petunia reaches her destination that she realizes the kindly grandmother she has been summoned to visit is really an enemy bent on restoring an age-old curse. The stories of Red Riding Hood and Robin Hood get a twist as Petunia and her many sisters take on bandits, grannies, and the new King Under Stone to end their family curse once and for all.”

 Why I Can’t Wait:

I love fairy tales, and that’s the reason why I read all kinds of of fairy tale retellings. This book is the final installment of the Princess trilogy and I can’t wait to read the story of Petunia. She belongs to the twelve dancing princesses in the first book, but this story is with a red riding hood and robin hood twist. I loved the first book and I’m going to read the second book soon, maybe this weekend. And I just love happy endings! ♥♥♥

The Hunger Games Movie: I SUPER LOVE IT!

This is just a short post about how much I love the movie! I just got home from watching it at Greenbelt 3, Makati and it’s already 1am here, I’m so sleepy but I want to write here to tell and yell all my rants and raves about how awesome it is! It’s perfect, and it’s how I wanted it to be. Every scene did not disappoint me. At first, it felt like it is a little dragging, but I guess it is how it really should be because that is also what happened in the book. Jennifer Lawrence is such a good actress! She got Katniss right, she’s into the character! I even cried when it came to the scene where she volunteered for Prim. I couldn’t believe it. Josh Hutcherson is also great! I love him so much! LOL! He’s also perfect as Peeta!

Anyway, so much for that, I’ll continue tomorrow, I need to sleep, my bed is already calling me!

Love! Love! Love it!

Journey 2: The Mysterious Island

“Sean Anderson partners with his mom’s boyfriend on a mission to find his grandfather, who is thought to be missing on a mythical island.” -IMDB

I totally love this movie! I watched it today with my boyfriend at Alabang Town Center, cinema 3, 3:40 pm in 3D. The effects are great, they are so fantastic! It’s very funny, and the characters are also lovable. I normally don’t like Vanessa, but I like her here because of Dwayne and Josh. Kids will definitely love this movie! And I believe they enjoyed it earlier because I heard them laughing. Also, they applauded at the end. To be honest, I wanted to watch it because of Josh Hutcherson! He was so charming and cute when he was young, and I have watched all of his movies. So I had this need to watch this and also the Hunger Games movie on March. I’m so excited!

Happy Feet 2!

I’ve watched the movie “Happy Feet 2” in 3D last Saturday, December 3,2011 at SM Southmall cinema 1 in our celebration of our 22nd monthsary!

I like the movie, but I think the first is much better and more entertaining. They should have emphasized with Eric’s reluctance to dance and his talent in singing. But the movie brings out emotions that we  we thought we will never show.  I love the songs that they used and the voice of Pink is so perfect as Gloria. They made the movie very memorable and the characters very entertaining. Overall, i enjoyed the movie like every kid did. 😉
