Cover Reveal: REQUIEM by Lauren Oliver

As an active member of goodreads, which means I’m almost 15 hours online there everyday, I just saw the cover yesterday and I was definitely shocked when I saw it! Here’s the cover of the upcoming third book in the Delirium series from Lauren Oliver. I’m so freaking excited!!!

“Now an active member of the resistance, Lena has been transformed. The nascent rebellion that was under way in Pandemonium has ignited into an all-out revolution in Requiem, and Lena is at the center of the fight. Of Pandemonium, ALA Booklist noted that “like all successful second volumes, this expands the world and ups the stakes, setting us up for the big finale.”

After rescuing Julian from a death sentence, Lena and her friends fled to the Wilds. But the Wilds are no longer a safe haven—pockets of rebellion have opened throughout the country, and the government cannot deny the existence of Invalids. Regulators now infiltrate the borderlands to stamp out the rebels, and as Lena navigates the increasingly dangerous terrain, her best friend, Hana, lives a safe, loveless life in Portland as the fiancée of the young mayor. Requiem is told from both Lena’s and Hana’s points of view. The two girls live side by side in a world that divides them until, at last, their stories converge.”

Shocked is just an exaggeration! LOL! I know the cover matches the first two books but this one seems a bit creepy for me. She’s the same girl right? But I can’t describe the way the girl smiles in this photo, wait, I’m not even sure if that’s a smile! But something’s wrong in her eyes, they’re too lifeless. Anyway, even though I don’t like the cover, I’m definitely excited for this book, it’ll be out next year! Have you read the description? It says that the book will be narrated by Lena and Hana, and that is another big surprise to me. Why Hana? What’s her role??? I know she’s the best friend, but will she play a huge role in Lena’s life? Well, that makes me more curious and excited, especially the fact that there will be more Alex!! I miss him! and I miss Julian too! *squeal!*

Are you a fan of the Delirium series? Let me know what you think! 😉

Waiting on Wednesday #1

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill at Breaking The Spine. It features each blogger’s most anticipated books. This week, my pick is The Spindlers by Lauren Oliver.

“When Liza’s younger brother Patrick’s soul is stolen by the evil Spindlers, spider-like creatures who live underground, she knows she must set out on a heroic quest to the world Below to rescue it.”

Why I Can’t Wait:

Yeah, I’m definitely one of Lauren Oliver’s huge fan! And I love all her books! I saw her post about this new book coming in October and I’m really excited about it! I liked her first middle-aged book Liesl and Po, and I’m sure this new book of hers will capture again my young heart. ♥

Expected publication:

October 2nd 2012 by HarperCollins

WOW! I was totally blown away by this book! I love it so much that I can’t find the right words to say, and I had this mixed emotions. Personally, this is way so much better from Delirium, and this is what I definitely feel. Oliver’s way of writing captured my heart. I will not read other reviews, not until I’m finished writing this.haha!

The whole book consists of the “now” and “then”, and it confused me at the start but I learned to understand it and love the writing style along the way. I was really expecting the book to be the same as the first one, where there are quotes at the beginning of the chapter. But this book was told in a very different way, and it felt like there’s always increase in anticipation in every chapter. Sometimes I just want to read the “now” chapters, but it seems like cheating. 😉 The “then” part is about her life in the wilds and the “now” is her new life as “cured”.

A lot of new characters have been introduced, and each of them are unique and have became a big part of Lena’s life. I will not say much about them, cause I might spoil so much. Lena is really a strong heroine, I like her more here. There are parts of the book that made my heart ache, especially her life in the wilds where her grief has consumed her and at the same time, surviving was hard. Deaths are inevitable.. Happiness is far-fetched. I was glad that a new love has found her, even though she’s not sure if Alex died. I was also in love with Alex, but I learned to love Julian too!haha!

The twists are amazing, I like the concept of DFA, revolution and alliances that were introduced in the book. The last part of the book is the major surprise. Well, I admit I somehow expected it, but only a little. I was relieved by the last part of Lena and Julian together, but I guess I was wrong. It only made me want the third book! I can’t choose between the two guys! Of course, Lena will be done to choose, and I really really really hope that Lauren Oliver will make this trilogy a happy ending!

My favorite quotes from the book:

“This is what hatred is. It will feed you and at the same time turn you to rot.” -page 166

“They’d already taken her from me once. I didn’t want to lose her again.” -page 277

“I need him to know that I came for him. I need him to know that somehow, at some point in the tunnels, I began to love him.”

I love this book so much..
